So Rory, how is the start of the new decade treating you?
Pretty good, so far I've spent it locked up in the studio so looking forward to coming out and playing some records.


What does Rory Phillips have planned for the music industry this year?
In January I started my own label 'Hungry Beat' so can't really say I'm not part of the 'music industry' any more. I'll be releasing stuff by myself and hopefully some other acts I'm talking to at the moment.


Where will the summer be taking you?
I have no idea! But after a brutal London winter I'm hoping somewhere sunny.


Will your telephone headphone be going with you?
I never play a gig without it, it just feels strange using regular headphones now.


How would you say your music has developed since you started DJing?
I wouldn't say it's developed but it's always changing, it just depends on what's exciting me at the time. The music I'm making when I'm not DJing feels like it's evolving though, just from learning more about how the studio works.


Favourite place in the world?
London.


Favourite place in the world to DJ?
It's a coin-toss between Dublin and Osaka in Japan, both have incredible crowds and are great cities to explore.


In relation to the legendary club night ‘Trash’, how would you say ‘Durrr’ differs, given that it is labeled as its successor?
With Durrr, despite being a lot of the Trash team being involved, we had to just rip up the rulebook and start again, through a mixture of wanting to start something new and as to let Trash's legacy stand alone.


You’ve previously produced remixes for artists such as Little Boots and The Gossip – any new acts you’ve got lined up to work with this year?
I've just finished remixes for The Golden Filter and New Young Pony Club and am currently working on remixes for Munk and Factory Floor.


Finally, any fellow DJs you’ll be raving to at the launch of ‘Together’?
I'm looking forward to checking out what Mylo has in store, especially after his recent disco flavoured mixes.
