Egg's regular Fridays at Egg...brings together two huge acts whose big room house sound has developed from underground beginnings.
Emerging out of the same Parisian scene as Daft Punk, Cassius – aka Philippe Zdar and Boom Bass – deserve similar praise. Tracks such as 'Cassius 1999', 'Feeling For You' and 'La Mouche' were huge disco-sampling hits before the turn of the Millennium, while 2002's 'Sound of Violence' has been a perennial club favourite, remixed by everyone from David Keno and Luciano to Aeroplane. Having remixed headline acts from Björk to Depeche Mode themselves, more lately they've worked with Cat Power and Mike D of the Beastie Boys, belying their hip-hop roots as Le Funk Mob.
Another hugely experienced producer and DJ, Alex Metric has mixed huge electro club smashes like the Alexander O'Neal sampling 'Rave Weapon' with nuanced, vocal-led tracks such as the Stefan Storm fronted ?'Heart Weighs A Ton'. Along the way, he's worked with Steve Angello, Charli XCX and Jacques Lu Cont, all peers of Alex and his faultless studio skills.
